Internet security is an important issue that affects everyone who is online. Whether it’s surfing the web, sending emails, banking online or working in the cloud, we all want to protect our data and our privacy. That’s why it’s important that we use the latest standards and technologies in app delivery that allow us to communicate securely and quickly.

One of these standards is TLS 1.3, the latest version of the Transport Layer Security protocol. TLS is the protocol that HTTPS and other network protocols use for encryption. It ensures that the data exchanged between web browsers and servers cannot be intercepted or manipulated by third parties.

TLS 1.3 offers many advantages over the older version TLS 1.2, which has been in use since 2008. Firstly, TLS 1.3 is faster because it has simplified the so-called TLS handshake. The TLS handshake is the process in which the app and the server negotiate the encryption parameters before exchanging data. TLS 1.3 only requires one round trip instead of two, as was the case with TLS 1.2, which means that the connection is established more quickly and latency is reduced. In some cases, the TLS handshake can even be omitted completely if the browser already had a previous connection to the server. This speeds up HTTPS connections even more and improves the user experience.

Secondly, TLS 1.3 is more secure because it has discontinued support for outdated and insecure cryptographic algorithms that were still present in TLS 1.2. These algorithms were vulnerable to various attacks that could break or weaken the encryption. TLS 1.3 now only supports three encryption methods, all of which support Perfect Forward Secrecy (PFS) with modern algorithms. PFS means that the keys are generated uniquely for each connection and cannot be derived from previous connections. This increases security because an attacker who cracks a key cannot decrypt communication in the past or future.
